It used to be quite difficult to find video
copies of many recent independent and international films
in the local video stores. However, the situation has improved
considerably in the last few years.
Several years ago, the Vernon Film Society began
a joint effort with the Vernon Art Gallery to purchase copies
of these types of films and make them available for rent through
the Art Gallery. This collection of classic, independent and
foreign films now includes over 500
titles from 40 countries.
Because many of the more recent and well known
independent and foreign films are now available in the major
video stores, we are now trying to purchase only those films
which are not available in any of the local video stores,
particularly older classic and foreign films.
There is no membership fee, but non-gallery
members will be issued a separate video membership which is
free. Apply in person at the Art Gallery and please bring
proper ID with you.
The Art Gallery is located at:
3228 - 31st Ave
(in the Parkade building)
